It
takes about an hour to walk to the Whakatane rivermouth
from the property along the beach, where you can watch
the local boats cross the Whakatane bar, including big game fishing
boats, locals going scuba diving, White
Island Tours and Whale Island Tours
heading out.
Jet
skis, wind surfers, kayaks and small boats can be
launched off the beach - not to mention the surfing. For larger vessels, Whakatane boat ramp near the
Whakatane Heads is only 10 minutes away. Check out the webcam
at the Whakatane river bar entrance to view the bar.
You may wish to bring your bike
as there is a cycle track into Whakatane along the beautiful Whakatane
river and plenty of enjoyable cycling
opportunties to explore locally throughout the Whakatane area and Bay of
Plenty.
Of course no great beach holiday is complete without relaxing
and reading a good book - and this is the spot,
with the soothing sound of the ocean in the background.
